5 Strategists Mistakes that Cost You Your Games

Hey guys, the grind on Marvel Rivals has been so real. This past week after many failed attempts I finally hit Celestial. It’s been a long ride and the majority of it I have been maining Strategists. Here are 5 mistakes that are costing you your games that I have seen super often in my journey from my Bronze to Celestial. If you want to watch instead of read below is a Youtube video!

1. Ult misusage
   • If there’s one thing to know about strategists it’s that your ults win team fights. You easily have the most important ult in the game so there are a few things to keep in mind
     • Pay attention to the enemy comp to plan what you need to counter
     • Communicate with your other strategist to avoid double support ulting
     • Know when to stall vs. When to counter
2. Poor prioritizing and balancing
   • Pay attention to which of your teammates are close to their ults and keep them up
     • When they get their ult it can be worth it to pocket them especially because some become big targets during their ults
   • Learn to balance healing, abilities, and damage
3. Passive play costing you ults
   • Say you win a long team fight with all your strategist ults and the enemy is reseting. Congrats you won but what about the next fight? Have your tank push up a little to gain ult charge for that next fight
   • make sure if you are close to an ult you do everything you can to get it during the team fight maybe playing even more passive than usual to ensure you live until you get it
4. One tricking
   • A few things wrong with this.
     • First remember there is another player on your team that is going to play strategist too.
     • When you get to bans a support is often banned especially luna snow because she is so strong.
     • Rivals is all about counter picking so make sure you have a few different strategist you can play to counter the enemy
       1. There are weaknesses for each strategist so sometimes you have to switch if things aren’t going well, especially depending on if your teammates are helping you or not.

       3. I suggest knowing how to play 3, one that you feel confident to play into dive form the enemy team
5. Not knowing when to switch
   • Take note of why you are losing your team fights.
     • Whether you are losing because as rocket you are down a support ult as a team or as cloak you are always dying to a mag ult or you are constantly dying to dive and need to switch maybe to loki. Identify why you are losing and act.

I hope these tips are helpful to any strategist mains out there trying to climb. It is a super fun and rewarding role to play but is full of responsibility. Enjoy your games and happy climbing 🙂
