I have been absolutely loving the game Marvel Rivals. As someone who has pretty much one tricked playing Valorant for several years it is super refreshing to have found something else to play. There is something unique about grinding a new game for rank and trying to make something out of it. I just hit Lord on Mantis and thought it would be fun to dig into some of her lore.
Before we get into it beware of spoilers ahead. I have included different details from comics, movies, and from within game marvel rivals.
Marvel Rivals
Some of my favorite quotes from the game:

“I vented my anger.”
On the Marvel Rivals site they explain: “Mantis uses her impressive mental abilities and her penchant for plant control to anchor any team she fights alongside. Her powers tap into a limitless flow of life energy, gently nourishing everything she touches”. Mantis falls into the role of Strategist. Strategists have healing abilities as well as a unique array of utility to deal with enemies from stuns to damage buffs to blinds. This category of heroes helps you keep your team alive while catching the enemies off guard with your utility.
Her abilities stem from her Life Orbs which are four rechargeable orbs that recharge every 3 seconds. From these orbs she can use her abilities including a heal, damage buff, or damage buff / healing for herself. She also has a sleep ability that is on a cooldown. This comes in handy when dive heroes try to fight you. You can either take them on or have some time to fall back and seek cover or help. Her ult creates a large circle in which she heals herself and teammates which can be a great counter to a number of damage inducing ultimates.
Though Mantis has a heal she should not be the primary healer of the team. While it can work it is much better to pair her with a hero with high healing capabilities like Luna Snow or Cloak & Dagger. In addition to this she has team-up abilities that work in conjunction with Adam Warlock and Starlord.
Comics
Within the Marvel comics Mantis has a long journey to be trained as a warrior with alien priests to embrace greatness! She has several cool abilities including being able to talk to plants.
Mantis is described as the green-skinned Guardian of the Galaxy with antennae sticking out of her head. Mantis is on the meditative side, but if her emotions are unleashed after a traumatic event, watch out.
Fun Fact: Mantis and Scarlett Witch were in a love triangle so when Scarlett Witch marries Vision Mantis leaves the whole entire planet on their wedding day.

Movies
In the movies Mantis is played by actress Pom Klementieff

Her powers within the movies include powerful empath , sleep induction, emotion manipulation, and enhanced durability.
Mantis is discovered and raised by ego in which he inadvertently introduces her to the guardians which she joins.
